Jennifer Smith, RD, CLT
My name is Jennifer Smith. I am a Registered Dietitian and while my name may be common my approach is not.
I help women who are struggling with a variety of health challenges including weight gain and subsequent fatigue, confusion about nutrition, and body image issues like low self esteem. Additionally, I work with women who are challenged with digestive symptoms such as bloating, heart burn, gas, and frequent bathroom visits. In my work with clients, I help them to reclaim their lives by losing weight without deprivation and reducing or eliminating digestive symptoms so that their life sparks joy and ignites energy.
Our bodies are amazing, complex, and every system is interconnected which is why I focus on more than just the foods on your plate. I take into account your body, mind, soul and lifestyle needs. Together, we will uncover root causes, address your specific system imbalances and concerns to help you reach your goal of getting back to living your life to the fullest
Every person is different which means your nutrition therapy should be specific to you.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics from Wayne State University. I completed my internship through the Coordinated Program at Wayne State and passed the Registration Exam for Dietitians in 2008.
I was ready to conquer the world and determined to help people live healthier lives....but where to start?
Since graduating, I felt like I've been wandering aimlessly. I worked with a community nutrition program, a hospital, and a doctor's office but I never felt like I was making the impact that I wanted to. It wasn't until I discovered my daughter had food sensitivities that I finally discovered my passion. I am a Dietitian and I had a hard time navigating this new world of food sensitivities. That's when I became a Certified LEAP Therapist, completed a Certificate of Training from the Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy, and decided to launch my own business.
On a personal note, I live with my husband (who knows nothing about nutrition but I love him anyway!), three little girls, and two dogs. I have been where you stand. I was fatigued, had brain fog, digestive complaints and not knowing what to do about it and getting little to no help from my doctor (turned out to be food sensitivities). I have struggled with my relationship with food (always craving and at times binging on sweets). I have fought and controlled my kids in an attempt to get them to eat healthy. I know what you are going through and together I can help you get through to the other side. There is hope! It can get better!
